Liner Notes
I first heard Linda at the Janice Borla Vocal Jazz Camp where I was performing and teaching. She sang Trane’s “Afro Blue” with Oscar Brown Jr.’s lyric and was mesmerizing – floating like silk in a breeze, her soul rejoicing from a timeless place. One of the most important aspects of our development as jazz singers is to keep doing it, as Bill Evans said to me many years ago – keep on learning, keep on performing, keep on recording, keep on teaching. All of it is nourishing to the heart and soul of the music and to us as vehicles for the music to come through. With her deep love for singing and a vulnerability in her voice to bring that love to life, Linda marks her way on this journey and all of us listeners are recipients of a special experience.
